Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026. This policy explains what information CouponBay collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
CouponBay does not require user accounts and does not collect personally identifiable information directly. The data we process is limited to:
- Anonymous device hashes — used by our voting system to prevent duplicate votes. The hash cannot be used to identify you personally.
- Affiliate click metadata — coupon ID, timestamp, and referring site, recorded when you click through to a retailer. No personal data is attached.
- Standard server logs — IP address, user agent, and request path, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
How We Use Information
We use the data above to operate the site, prevent abuse, attribute affiliate commissions, and improve coupon quality. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.
Cookies and Tracking
CouponBay uses cookies and similar local-storage technologies for the following purposes:
- Affiliate cookies — set by Skimlinks and our network partners when you click an outbound retailer link. These typically have a 30-day lifetime and are required for us to earn commissions on qualifying purchases.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense and other ad networks to deliver and measure ads. These may be used to personalize ads based on your browsing history.
- Functional storage — we use
localStorageto remember whether you've dismissed our cookie banner, so you don't see it on every visit. - Anti-fraud signals — short-lived cookies set during checkout redirects to detect automated traffic.
Third-Party Services
We share limited data with the following service providers:
- Skimlinks — our primary affiliate network. When you click a retailer link, Skimlinks may rewrite the URL and set its own tracking cookie to attribute commissions. See Skimlinks' privacy policy.
- Google AdSense — serves contextual ads on our pages. AdSense uses cookies and may use the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve interest-based ads. See Google's advertising policy.
We do not knowingly share data with any party not listed above. Our hosting provider and CDN may process traffic in the normal course of serving our pages.
Your Rights (CCPA)
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Because we do not collect personally identifiable information and do not sell personal information, most of these rights do not require any action on our part — but we honor opt-out requests for advertising cookies as described below.
Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information. To opt out of third-party advertising cookies, see our Do Not Sell My Personal Information page.
Children's Privacy
CouponBay is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for a reasonable period.
